Hi there!
I’m Harm.
I’m a curious problem-solver at heart. I enjoy doing a bit of everything in teams that do a bit of everything. I strongly believe in mixing disciplines, in bringing together tech and creativity, and in the power of human-centered design to create positive and meaningful change.
I’m currently making diabetes suck less at mySugr in Vienna. Before that, I studied Service Design, UX Design and User Research in the MSc Design & Technology Futures program in Tallinn. I also worked as a 3D Printing Engineer at Shapeways in Eindhoven, after my BSc Industrial Product Design in Vlissingen.
How I Work
Start with Why
I believe a lot of things exist for no good reason at all, and that’s a shame! When I’m working on something, I like to get to the bottom of the Why. That includes understanding the surrounding systems and incentives, and giving a voice to anyone involved in the project.
Embrace Constraints
I’ve seen limited resources and software constraints turn into the most creative workflows. From production planning software in Google Sheets, to animated system maps in Figma, there’s always a way to make things work!
Trust the Process
You can’t force the answer to reveal itself. It will show up when it’s ready. In the meantime, just sit with the project, talk to people, and keep tinkering.
